Harbin Hot Springs- Death and Rebirth
Whoa~
Mama Earth...
What you are feeling, we are feeling. What you are going through is You mirroring back to us what we are playing out in our day to day. The health of you Mama Earth is a direct reflection of the health of me, you, us. Mama Earth sustains us and she is raging at the top of her lungs, “wake the fuck up!”
Are you listening? I mean deeply listening?
So many of us Earthlings have become disembodied from the deep felt connection with Her, and it has enormous consequences that effect us in how we experience LIVING IN our bodies.
I had the pleasure of being the ONLY PERSON camping on a Saturday night at Harbin Hot Springs- a very well known and cherished destination in Northern California. Over my 3 day stay, there were only 20 people, which in my 10 years of visiting there, never happens!
It was a very surreal experience. Most of the Bay Area was contending with power outage and fire, yet I was being held and protected in Her waters, like a mother coddling her baby. It was the sweetest sentiment, and although it was so nurturing, I was feeling everything and everyone with a deep pang in my belly. I experienced a full cycle of death and rebirth.
Upon arriving, I looked across the valley and saw all the dead trees from Harbin’s recent fire. The air was thick and heavy with smoke and not one person was seen in the entire campground. It felt and looked as if a death of a civilization had just happened. For two nights, there were 70-90 mile/hr winds blowing. My tent was bent and folded over- almost on top of me, there was an incessant sound of wind and trees blowing that left me quite alert and sleepless.
The following day on my walk, I perched myself in the sun on one of their camping decks and witnessed a different aspect of rage-different than the 2015 fatal fire that ravaged through the valley and burnt most of Harbin’s structures to the ground. That day, everything was moving and alive, like really alive with those 70-90 mile an hour winds raging through the valley. It was beautiful to witness in my stillness the wild dance of the leaves, the rooted yet pliable tree trunks, that eventually notwithstanding the pressure anymore, broke free. Everything was singing loudly, a symphony of chaos. There was no room for any other thought.
Chaos! Exactly, Mama Earth is mimicking back to me, you, us: the state of affairs in our society. We’re in such crazy, chaotic times. My whole body became one big tear drop.
The final night, the winds stopped and the stars came. The following day was gorgeous, blue skies and complete stillness. There is order in chaos. Upon leaving, the heavy smoke arrived once again filling the valley as it was when I arrived. Full circle.
How do you experience living in your body? Are you listening? I mean deeply listening?
